Icy Sunday Special

This isn't Hannover at dusk. It's Hannover at exactly 11 am. Minus 11 degrees. The snow masses have disappeared. Instead there's ice in all sorts of shapes decorating the city. And we are outside. Lia wanted to bring her bike, but rather quickly decides against it. The cold headwind does strange things to the face. And Lia is not too fond of white eyelashes.

A quick family hug to evenly distribute warmth. A sip of (ice) tea, before we start our adventure? But wait! Where are Ben's gloves?? Gotta put those on, and a third pair of big woolen socks, too, to be hidden inside very cosy snowsuit.

Lia puts on her hat and hood and looks like a winter rocket.
Take off in 11 seconds.

Think there are fish under all the ice? Next time we'll bring some stools and spears.

Or rather come back in the summer for some real ice. Cream.

You gotta hand it to Lia ... weeks and weeks in to this and she is still smiling and looking really happy and excited!!! Over here can't get into or out of parking spaces anymore because the snow has turned into piles of rock-hard ice and makes horrible driving. :-( I'm so over this winter. Seriously. Spring please! Now. Only three weeks to go until March. Counting down the days ...

Lia looking cute as ever. Only one thing missing...well, a few things actually. 1- WATER in that lake. 2-SUN. 3-Proper GEESE, preferably the ones that chase people. You've got to feel a bit cheated with only pigeons... 4- "Cookies" and lastly, and most importantly 5- Your best pal Lo (and his Mom, and baby and some more sun along with goopy sunscreen and superstar sunglasses, of course...).

Long story short, these photos are severely lacking. Tsk.

Oh ALEX, you WISH! Now get inside before you freeze your hiney off!

NO pedals, Brandy. Only AFTER the kids learned how to drive THIS one like crazy. And then they can EASILY and EFFORTLESSLY switch to driving with pedals. And without those stupid helping wheels who keep them from learning how balance the bike out. Yes, yes, it actually DOES make sense after all! ;)

No I know, I know...still convinced only the Germans have issues with pedals though... ;)

The English have so called balance bikes too. Although, of course, the two little support wheels are a lot more economical in price than buying a whole separate bike... Tara had a go on Lia's last summer and didn't like it. We'll be going for some little pink proper bike one day.
