Feet first!

"Pillefuesse zuerst!" At this command Lia will crawl backwards on all fours to get down a flight of stairs, her funny little feet leading the way. She has become quite good at it and is sometimes getting into her 'feet first pole position' two meters away from the stairs.

Watch Lia finding her pole position and the right angle to tackle the stairs.

Down South

That's where we went! A three-hour drive to the ONE place in South Carolina I would move to in an instant. For good. It's this tiny city's flair, European, modern, and all scruffy and flawed. A bit like Tel Aviv, really, minus the horses. (Ok, I want a house in Charleston and an apartment in Tel Aviv, please.) The buzz (whose prerequisite are actual sidewalks AND pedestrians) just gets us every time... Plus the sunshine, the salty air, and the little pearls of sweat on the upper lip.

Charleston. For us this means wind in our hair, sand between our toes, shopping bags in our hands, and great food on our plates. Lia loved all of it. Ok, almost all of it. The sand between her toes really freaked her out. The sand-part of being at the beach still scares her, but she mastered the unsteady ground with her socks and boots on. Yes, socks are the one must-have item! Also, our day at the beach was a bit windy and cold, so socks are justifiable.

As are all the other must-haves Lia got on her shopping spree. (VIDEO!)

The weekend we spent in Charleston was rounded off by a great dinner at our favorite restaurant Lana's that is hidden in the dilapidated part of Charleston. We were the only guests with funny accents, but since they have known us for quite a while (me pregnant with lots of special wishes) and also appreciate our great appetite (including Lia's!), we are always welcome. Lia ate an entire chicken breast, plus a big platter of fried vegetables. It's a wonder really that her skirt still fits her. She must have inherited her mom's metabolism.

Charleston, our love. Kiss, kiss!

More of them sweet buttocks

Lia gets her multiple tasking talent from her dad. (Certainly NOT from me.) There is always enough time to take a business call, be it in the middle of a diaper change or an important sock convention. Watch Lia talking on the phone with her Savta while sorting out socks. (VIDEO!)

Also, there is always enough time for a kiss. A couple of days ago I received my very first and very wet kiss from Lia on the mouth without having to beg for it! I think that Italian loving is rubbing off. To find out more about bold Italian moves click here!!!

Love, kisses, and arrows

from cupid Lia and cupid Lorenzo.

Aren't they perfect little models?? What you can't see is that Lorenzo is holding a cell phone and Lia is eating a banana. It ain't easy to bribe angels!

P.S. Watch your buttocks!

Lovey Dovey

Tomorrow is Valentines Day, the day on which sweethearts express their love for one another. As we are madly in love with our daughter, we have planted kisses all over her since the day she was born. Now Lia's ways of expressing her affection for us have been rather miserly. Thus we greatly enjoy the moments in which she leans her face against ours or happily slaps our faces. Kindly enough, Lia has refined her love repertoire for Valentines Day: She now calls both of her parents 'Mama' in a singsong manner (with a rising intonation) and has also learned to give wet kisses on the mouth. Sometimes she forgets that the mouth plays an important aspect and simply offers us her forehead. She will have to work on that, cause we prefer wet and teethy kisses to pope-like blessings.

Watch Lia dance the dance of love. (video!)

Right now it seems that Lia will conduct the orchestra in front of the stage rather than dance on it ...

Little Buddha

It doesn't happen too often that Lia actually sits down to digest her food. Usually Lia is out and about, working off the extra calories. Our little girl wants to look good this summer, especially in her new bikini and red sun hat. She's trying very hard to look more like a lady than an old Indian man with a big belly, so that Lorenzo will stop calling her 'Baba', which in Hindi means grandfather. But since her other great passion besides fashion is eating, she is facing a bit of a challenge here. But who cares?? Baba is a really cute name, that belly is supercute too, especially when framed by a bikini, and as far as I'm concerned, fashion and food do go together. Right?

That's just neat!

Our daughter Lia is a very orderly little person. Stray objects are picked up and placed in drawers, cupboards, bags, and trash cans. It's not easy to make sense of Lia's filing system, especially when we find the car keys in the kitchen cabinet, a pair of baby socks in Thiemo's briefcase, and our German passports in the American wastebasket. But we certainly don't wish to underestimate our daughter. Maybe this is one of those generation gaps and we simply don't get it. And even if Lia's sense of order needs getting used to, it's certainly nice to live in a tidy and uncluttered place.

And maybe those car keys do belong among the pans and pots. (video!)

Mrs. Spoon

Lia is a 'spoon kind of girl'. Ideal case scenario: one spoon in each hand. And she is doing such a great job juggling those spoons. Look at the artistic cereal pattern on her bib and the simultaneous beauty facial treatment. The 'Peanut Oatmeal & Spelt Mask' applied onto face and neck works wonders!

You should try the cereal & milk bath for a luxurious way to baby soft skin! The cereal exfoliates and the milk moisturizes. Ask Lia, she knows the basics of soft skin. Here is one more tip: Drinking water will help with maintaining your skin moist! Lia is drinking at least a gallon each day. She can even fill her own bottles now. See?
